Basil

Queen Basil

Determined, strong, confident, courageous, playful, curious, and affectionate. Basil is a unique and special individual who can inspire us all. Often misidentified as a goat, Basil, is a Barbados Blackbelly Sheep.

Basil was found tied to a tree, alone, with no food or water for at least three days in the intense summer heat of North Central Washington. She was given a chance to survive by a good samaritan who took her to the local Humane Society. They helped keep her alive, but when she got to us she was still so sick. She had a fever, pneumonia, malnourished, and so weak she could barely stand. The stress caused markings on her hooves and the loss of her entire coat of hair. She was too sick to be nervous or scared. She transitioned from sick and weak, to healing and terrified, to my BFF attached to my hip, to the determined companion Woody & Sage are learning to love. She brings us so much joy each day and has stolen all of our heart’s. We feel so grateful to have her with us.
